New Horizon is a residential design and build company. Their office is located in downtown Hamilton, Ontario.
Challenge
New Horizon’s existing office space was a post and beam, warehouse style building that had originally been constructed in 1902. The owners were looking to switch floors in the building and wanted their new space to be a modern interior office design with a ‘New York’ feel, while at the same time not losing the existing character of the building.
Solution
TWD created an open environment which featured clean, modern lines and elements within an exposed rustic shell. Partial walls and frameless glass were used to separate space while allowing the natural light to filter through the office. A cool, neutral palette was used which featured pops of colour such as green, yellow and red. These elements provided a modern backdrop which, by contrast, highlighted the original features which remained in the space such as the exposed columns and beams and the open, wood ceiling. The space was finished off with the use of modern furniture and lighting.
Impact
New Horizon Development Group’s office now feels open, modern and ‘New York Chic’ while highlighting the beauty of the original building. The space is a perfect blend of old and new.
